Choosing an Agent
CHOOSING AN AGENT
Choosing a talent agent to represent you is an important task. Talent agents negotiate your rates and working conditions for all the productions for which you will be hired. Your relationship with your agent is crucial. Choose wisely and always do your own research into any agency you are considering for representation. The Province of British Columbia has regulations governing talent agents, commissions, fees, photos and the payment of wages. In addition, all talent agents must be licensed by the B.C. Ministry of Labour.
Note: Policy Change regarding the UBCP Talent Agency List
It has come to the Union’s attention that performers and other members of the Film and Television Industry may have mistakenly considered the UBCP Talent Agency List to be an endorsement of the agencies appearing on the list. In order to rectify this misconception, the UBCP will now provide a link to the Government of B.C., Employment Standards Branch website for a list of licensed Talent Agencies in B.C.
The information provided on this link is provided “as is” without warranty or guarantee of any kind, either expressed or implied. The UBCP does not assume any legal liability or responsibility for the services that may be provided by a talent agency on this link. The UBCP therefore shall not be liable for any damages suffered by or injury caused to any person using a talent agency set out in this link, including any direct, indirect, special, consequential and/or incidental damages.
