is the winner of CBC’s Canada Reads: True Stories 2012 literary competition. Her book Something Fierce: Memoirs of a Revolutionary Daughter is an account of her family’s flight from Chile to Canada during the Pinochet military coup in 1973.
Ms. Aguirre is a Vancouver actor and playwright and has been a member of UBCP since 1998. This past summer she was awarded UBCP’s LORENA GALE WOMAN OF DISTINCTION AWARD for her work as a Performer and within the community that helped advance the status of women in society.
Ms. Aguirre will be interviewed on CBC’s Q with Jian Ghomeshi on Friday February 10th.
