Update COVID – 19, March 19, 2020

Dear Fellow UBCP/ACTRA Members,

Some good news we can report today – staff are in the process of sending out almost 2500 residual cheques.

As well we have heard from Warner Bros that the team member from “Riverdale” who was tested for COVID-19 last week has subsequently tested negative. We hope that this will help alleviate the concerns of our members who worked on Riverdale last week.

The Federal government has announced a series of changes to the Employment Insurance Act to include workers who do not normally qualify for E.I, e.g. performers.

We anticipate that Parliament will put this announcement into action. However this is not certain.
Help us tell the Federal Government to Support Workers Amid COVID-19 by signing this petition to help ensure supports for workers in these difficult times:

If you are seeking information about Employment Insurance (EI) in relation to COVID-19 please click here.

We now have a dedicated COVID – 19 webpage that will include an aggregate of all the information and bulletins that we have already emailed you as well as a “FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS”

Here is some update information  from AFC about eligibility and how to apply for financial assistance: https://afchelps.ca/covid-19-guide/

In addition to these email updates we are providing information on our social media channels

Stay safe and healthy!
